2 East Texas Libertarians Announce Candidacy:Tyler,Tx

The Smith County Libertarian Party Organization on Saturday presented its candidates for Texas House District 6 and the First Congressional District in Texas.

Jon Fitts, 27, of Flint, is running for the seat currently held by Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler.

Fitts graduated from John Tyler High School and is studying biology and History at the University of Texas at Tyler.

He also has been involved with Relay for Life and Rock the Vote, where he helped people get registered for the 2008 election.

TYLER - A scary situation at a Tyler store, after a man carrying a gun threatens several people inside.
It happened at Harley's clothing store.
According to police reports, Derrell Cooper was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Officers say he got into an argument over some clothing he bought from the store.
Although he never pulled out the gun during the disturbance, officers discovered a small handgun when they arrested him.
No one was injured.
